Today Amazon delivered quite punctual our pre-ordered THEVIC20 from RetroGames, so it finally can join SiLLC’s Retro Investment portfolio.
We had to decide if we are going to invest an original commodore CBM VIC-20 back from the 80’s (same question we asked ourselves also before we ordered the THEC64Maxi) but as you know, those old machines contains old capacitors which usually starts to leak after 30-40 years. So it is always a risk to buy them and will add follow-up costs to change those on the original boards.
Also we love the idea to skip the loading times from floppy drive (or even more worse datasette tape loading) by just loading the games from an USB stick.
40 years later, Retro Games released its THEC64Maxi in Limited Edition in the VIC-20 design with PET keyboard. Great work guys ! Unbelievable that in October 1980 in Japan Commodore released the VIC-20 (VIC-1001 release name in Japan).
